The celebration of pushkar festival lies back deep in the history; it is the day when thousands of pilgrims visit the lake there for the holy bath. Records also mention the existence of trading fair where camels, horses, bulls, cows etc are traded and also various races are organized. The same fair has grown so big to spot the camel race and cattle trading alongwith whopping tourists group both Indian as well as of foreign. Pushkar lake or Pushkar sarovar is a sacred lake of Hindus in which dipping in is believed to cleanse sins and cure skin related diseases. At the time when Pushkar fair is held, pilgrims in large numbers are gathered to take a sacred bath in the lake. The lake is surrounded by 52 bathing Ghats where pilgrims are used to take bath. Pushkar lake is related with the mythology of Brahma, the God of creation.
