Family Holidays in Cyprus
On 03/04/2022 by ElisabethCyprus is one of those wonderful holiday destinations that can quite easily suit holidaymakers from all walks of life. Whether you’re after an action-packed holiday with adrenalin-pumping activities, a laid-back beach break or a fun-filled escape with the kids, a Cyprus holiday has got it all – and then some.
One of the feathers in its cap is its family-friendly appeal. The island is home to many different resorts, which are each geared up for different family needs. The Paphos region of Cyprus, located on the island’s west coast, is generally more relaxing and is packed with traditional charm, with plenty of ancient sites and beautiful towns and villages.
Take the kids to Paphos Town for a day of shopping and sightseeing, before treating them to lunch and ice cream as you watch huge boats and swish yachts moor in the pretty marina. The beach resorts around here are modern and well geared up for families, with all manners of local activities and a fantastic selection of family-friendly hotels to choose from too. Coral Bay is a lovely laid-back resort with a cracking beach, while Limassol – the biggest resort in Cyprus – is a great seaside spot with plenty of things to see and do.
On the other side of the island you’ll find a selection of lively resorts such as Ayia Napa. Don’t be put off by the neon lights of this buzzing party town – there are other resorts such as Nissi Beach and quiet Protarus if you’re not much of a night owl. The east coast has its fair share of historical sites to explore and plenty of beach-side fun, such as lively watersports and more than enough space for sandcastle builders.
Some other interesting facts to note about Cyprus include that it’s the most populous and third largest island in the Mediterranean. It’s located west of Syria and Lebanon, north of Egypt, east of Greece, south of Turkey and a member of the European Union. It’s also filled with history and of interest to those into archeology as the earliest known human activity on the island dates back to around the 10th millennium BC.
So whether you’re after a quiet escape with the little ones or plenty of full-on family fun, Cyprus is bound to tick all the right boxes.
